Little Miss Charlotte

On January 1st at about 3:30 in the after noon Lottie turned blue and was having a hard time breathing it lasted for about thirty seconds. We blew in her face so she would take a breath after she was really tired and kind of out of it. I remembered the week before she had done the same thing she had been sitting in her bumbo and was kind of hunched over so we thought she had just lost her breath. David and I were supposed to go to a movie that night and decided against it and just took her to dinner with us. When we got home she did it again, this one lasted longer and she threw up, the throw up was kind of foamy. I grabbed her and we raced to the ER. I was holding her and was struggling to keep her awake. The hospital thankfully is just down the road from us. When we got there she perked right up. She was cooing and playing with the nurses. She was a little dehydrated from being sick the week before so they gave her an IV with saline solution. Her wonderful Grandpa was there to help us and thought she would perk up with the fluids and that we could go home. Shortly later she had another episode and then another. Her stats would go way low when it would happen, so they put oxygen on her. They decided it was probably seizures. Grandpa at that point decided he wanted her to go to Primay Childrens. She had a chest  X Ray and a Cat Scan in Tremonton. They both looked good.

We had to wait for the ambulance to come from Salt Lake City.
Here they are getting her ready for her ride.

Here we are arriving in Salt Lake at Primary Children s Hospital. So sad to see such a small baby on that big ambulance bed. She had had another seizure during the ride down. I was up front in the ambulance. I got to watch her on a little screen. She is a pretty happy baby I could see her just smiling and cooing back there.
Dad met us there in the ER, We had to stay there for along time waiting for a room.
Mom and Dad were SO tired.  She's still happy even thought she had been poked and proded.
We were taken up to our room and we had an EEG scheduled for the next morning at 9:30 during the whole time she had seven seizures where she would turn blue couldn't breath and then be out of it for awhile afterward. Her oxygen would drop and her heart rate would race. The last one she had was about 1:30 AM on the 2nd.
Here she is getting ready to be wheeled down to get her EEG.
Here they are sticking all the monitors on her head.

Look at all those wires.
When we got done with that test Grandpa was waiting for us in our room. Lottie's hair is all crazy from the gel they used to put the monitors on her head. Her EEG showed some abnormal firing on one side of her brain. So they decided to do a MRI
Here she is getting sedated for her MRI, you can't move so they had to sedate her.
Here she is fast asleep.
There she is in the MRI she actually woke up when it started and they had to take her out and give her some more medicine.
After the MRI she was so out of it. Poor thing she just wanted to sleep but we had to keep her awake or they said she would be up all night. It was quite the task keeping her awake. We had to play with her move her legs talk sing whatever we could do. She would just whimper this sad little cry like let me sleep. Her MRI was normal. The Dr's. don't know what is causing them. She is on a seizure medication and we will have a follow up in February with her neurologist.
She also learned a new trick in the hospital, sucking on her toes. LOL

On January 12th she had another seizure at 8:00 that night. The next day she continued to have five more. Her Dr. upped her dosage of medicine and she hasn't had another one since. One of the side effects of this medicine is that it can make some children grouchy. I don't feel like she is herself and I can tell she is aggravated. Hopefully with time this side effect will lessen.

I can't help but wonder if because she was a frozen embryo it may have caused something with her brain. I keep picturing baby nemos little egg with a crack in it. But I believe in miracles it is a miracle in it self she is even here. #invitrobaby

We are so grateful for all the many fasts prayers and thoughts in our behalf. We are grateful her Grandpa is a Dr. and could help us out so much. :) We love all our family and friends and are overwhelmed by your support.

Pleased To Introduce Our Second Little Miracle

Heaven Is Here

On Thursday June 13th I had my last Dr. appointment. I was dilated  to a three and a half and 80% effaced. We decided to do an induction because I had been so itchy and swollen. I was also having such anxiety about who would be watching Lucee especially if the baby decided to come in the middle of the night.
The Dr. called the hospital and we were scheduled to be induced at nine o' clock the next morning. The next morning we got up and got ready to go, and we got a call that the hospital was so busy and they would call us when we could come. I was super annoyed, I just wanted to get the show on the road. We called them at ten and they said we could come at eleven. Uncle Craig came and picked up Lucee and took her to Tremonton, and we were on our way.
Here we are at my delivery room.
The nurses got me in really quickly as soon as I was in my gown they got my Oxytocin going.
Filling out paper work.

Time for my epidural! I decided to get it when I was at a four and a half. I was so nervous because I had a horrible experience with my last epidural. But this time all went smoothly. A tender mercy.
Resting!
My Momma came when she got off work.
Baby Belly and monitors
At five thirty they checked me and I was only a five and a half. They upped my Oxytocin to an 18 and had me get in a position on my side with the opposite leg in the stirrup. The nurse said this sometimes helps the baby to move down the birth canal.
The next time they checked me at about seven o' clock I was at a ten. It totally worked.

Wonderful Dr. Bierer
I had a practice push and then after two pushes she was here. She had meconium I was really nervous about it. She had to be suctioned right away.
She was born at 7:51 PM
They had to intubate her, poor thing. It was scary because my mom was making a really sad face and the nurses were blocking her from my view. My mom told me she had turned really blue while they were suctioning her. But she pinked right up, and I was able to hold her and do skin to skin and feed her.
My little angel. We were really indecisive on a name. We had talked about Ella, but when we were waiting that day David and I were talking and we weren't sure Ella was it. We talked about Millie David didn't really like it. David mentioned Charlotte and I had really liked Lottie. My mom liked it too. I was still unsure but when I saw her I said "I think she is Charlotte" and we will call her Lottie for short.

Grandma Rue.
I love this picture because of the way Lottie is looking at her Grandma.

Tiny baby feet, wrinkly just like mom and sister.

She has a raspberry mark just like Lucee did. One on her forehead and one on the back of her neck.
First Bath! She was screaming, but as soon as she started getting her bath she calmed right down. She loves baths.
Holding Daddy's hand.

Daddy's girl!
"She smells good"
Her first bow! I picked a aqua colored one to match her blanket.
When we got to the postpartum room and all settled in and I was able to really look at her I just kept seeing my Grandpa in her eyes. I still see him in her eyes sometimes. I felt the veil was very close. Heaven right in my own room.

Later that night we sent the baby to the nursery so we could get some rest. Not long after the nurse brought the baby back, she was totally inconsolable. The nurse said that she was showing some signs of with drawl and said that it could be because of some medicine that I take. She was jittery and crying. It was so sad. The nurse gave us the impression that she couldn't be in the nursery until we could console her. We tried everything David had been bouncing her and walking with her I had tried to feed her and I was even up bouncing her and she was still just crying. At nearly five in the morning I buzzed the nurses and told them something was really wrong. I was nearly in tears. I actually don't even know how I held it together that night. It was probably exhaustion that kept me from crying. The nurse said they were going to take her and give her some sugar water, that sometimes helps babies calm down and were going to call the pediatrician again to see if she had any suggestions. I was so grateful to have medical professionals to help us. I kept thinking about the pioneers and how they did this, with no medicine no comfy beds no recovery time no formula. Both of my girls were babies that needed a little more food until my milk came in. #chubbybabies
A visit from Big Sister LUCEE! The next day Lucee came to meet her baby sister. I was so excited to see her too, I had been crying missing her. My eyes were so swollen from being so tired.
Lucee was such a binkie baby and wanted to make sure baby had her binkie.

She really likes her!

She was so cute, she kept kissing her and rubbing her cheek on Lottie's cheeks and head. She also counted her fingers and toes a million times. I so loved watching her interact with her new sister.

Mommy had some great snacks!

Getting ready to go home. I was so ready to be home with Lucee.

All buckled up! Ready to go HOME!
I had made Lucee a big sister kit and forgot to give it to her when she came to visit. She was really excited about her (baby) my little pony. It came with a bottle and bib.
We came home on Fathers Day. Happy Fathers Day to David! He really is the best Daddy ever!
We are grateful for our beautiful little family and love our baby girls to bits. We are so grateful to have been blessed with two tiny miracles and I feel overwhelmed with gratitude that Heavenly father let me be their Mommy.
